Dirk De Meyer received his Master in Architecture from KU Leuven (Belgium). After graduation he was involved in research in the field of Urban Planning and Mass-Housing at the Royal Academy of Kopenhagen (Denmark) and also started working as a trainee in the studio of Achiel Hutsebaut.
His internship lead to the start of his own practice DDM.ARCHITECTUUR and in 2003 a representative office in Shanghai was established.
In 2006 he founded BAT ARCHITECTUUR, a multi disciplinary design team working in Europe and Asia.
Dirk De Meyer¡¯s personal focus is on urban design and the creation of residential, office and public projects in Belgium and China. Besides his practice he was a lecturer in urban planning until 2012 and since 2014 he is a guestprofessor in Zhengzhou University (China).

Projects by Dirk De Meyer for BAT.architectuur have been internationaly published and recevied several awards including most recently an ¡®IAA 2015 world architecture award¡¯, the¡¯international archizinc trophy 2014¡¯ and the ¡®bis architectuurwedstrijd 2014¡¯ award.
